Firefly - Kaylee Doll1 by Charis Firefly - Kaylee Doll1 by Charis
Here is the Kaylee doll that I made for my good friend Kate. You can see MANY MORE pictures of her here [link] just so insanely proud of myself that I took a lot of pictures before I sent it to her, and now that she has it (and likes it, yay!) I can post them without ruining the surprise.

Her body is made of felt, which was a bad idea because it's lumpy and raveled really badly. She's sewn by hand, hence all of the lumpy, painfully visible seams, and I embroidered her face. Note the adorable Kaylee buns. I couldn't find a teddy-bear patch, so I made my own, as well as a little strawberry (she was going to also have a little stuffed wrench, but that didn't go so well).

Kaylee is from the amazing Firefly television series, created by Joss Whedon.

Thanks! :D I'm glad you like her--she was lots of fun to make! I really want to do another one...but with a sewing machine, this time. Hand sewing the whole thing = hand cramps!

What a splendid project! I also viewed the series of shots you uploaded, and she's absolutely adorable. I love that series. :)

Thank you! She was a lot of fun to work on (but it would have been MUCH easier with a sewing machine!), and I had a good time watching the show to pick out some of the details on her outfit (technically she should have her blue jacket, since she only wears her hair in the buns in the Pilot, with the jacket, but when I tried to make a jacket it Didn't Go Well, so I gave up). It felt really good to be making something for someone else, too :)
